    Types of Furnaces

Various types of furnaces exist on the market. Here’s an overview of the furnaces we service, install and replace:

    Natural gas

Natural gas furnaces are one of the most common types. They use natural gas as their primary fuel source and are efficient and cost-effective in regions with access to a natural gas supply.

    Propane gas

Propane furnaces are similar to natural gas furnaces but use propane as the fuel source. They’re commonly used in areas where natural gas isn’t readily available.

    Oil

Oil furnaces burn heating oil to produce heat. They’re often found in regions where natural gas or propane is less common. Oil furnaces require a storage tank for the heating oil.

    Electric

Electric furnaces are typically less efficient and more expensive to operate than gas or oil furnaces, but they’re easy to install and often used in areas with limited access to other fuel sources.

Know Who’s Who Before You Hire A Contractor for Your Fuel-Burning Appliances

Uncertified gas technicians and unregistered contractors, aka ‘trunk slammers’, are not certified by or registered with TSSA. Therefore, their work on furnaces and other fuel-burning equipment is not subject to TSSA audits for compliance with safety requirements; their knowledge, competency, and qualifications cannot be validated; and they do not receive updates on safety information and training.

They are known for performing less expensive labour with cheaper materials, hence putting the Ontario public at risk of harm through poor workmanship.

    How to Choose a Furnace

With the optimal combination of home comfort and energy efficiency, when choosing one of our high-efficiency furnace models, you’ll save money while doing your part for the environment. Here’s what to consider when selecting a furnace:

    Calculate heating load

Consider factors like insulation, square footage, climate, and window quality. Our furnace installation technicians assess your home and recommend the right furnace size.

    Energy efficiency

Look for furnaces with a high Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency (AFUE) rating. The higher the AFUE rating, the more efficient the furnace is at converting fuel into heat.

    Consider fuel type

You can evaluate the available fuel sources in your area. Choose a furnace compatible with the most cost-effective and readily available fuel in your region.

    Variable-speed blower motor

Opt for a furnace with a variable-speed blower motor that adjusts airflow to meet your home’s heating needs, and enhance comfort, energy efficiency, and humidity control.

    Warranty and maintenance

A longer warranty period often indicates the manufacturer’s confidence in their product. Inquire about maintenance requirements and costs to ensure the furnace is easy to care for.

    Consider Furnace features

Ensure the furnace you choose is quiet, compatible with a smart thermostat, controls humidity levels, has advanced filtration options, and can support zoning systems.

When Is It Time for a Furnace Replacement?

Newer furnaces come equipped with advanced features like variable-speed blowers, smart thermostats, humidity control and improved filtration, enhancing comfort and air quality while reducing energy waste. Here are five reasons to consider replacing your old furnace with a new, high-efficiency furnace:

    Age

Furnaces typically last 15 to 20 years. As they age, their efficiency decreases, leading to higher energy bills. If your furnace is reaching the end of its lifespan, it may be time for a replacement.

    Energy efficiency

Older furnaces have lower efficiency ratings. Replacing yours with a high-efficiency model can significantly reduce your energy consumption and lower your heating expenses.

    Constant repairs

Frequent breakdowns and costly repairs indicate that your furnace is nearing the end of its lifespan. Investing in a new, reliable system can save you money on repair bills.

    Inconsistent heating

As your furnace ages, it’s performance can decline, leading to uneven heating or temperature fluctuations. A new model can provide more consistent warmth and comfort.
